Keep Your Team Above Water!
This is a popular learning program where participants divide into teams and build a real boat constructed from cardboard and packing tape. The boat is built and then evaluated in a number of areas including design, marketing, team cohesiveness, and finally, functionality.
This is a very popular event – and one where the take-away lessons will benefit your business for a long time into the future.

Features of the Program
“I think what was pretty unique about this event and a huge plus for us was that it allowed people of various abilities, athleticism, and energy levels to all participate. We’ve had events in the past that were hugely energy packed and had people running all over the place (geo-caching) and it was intimidating for those who were less able to compete to jump on in. And so we scaled back and had team building events that were much mellower, but then our energy/competitive people were bummed out. But I think with this particular event we struck a good balance in that the competition was there, the fun was there, but at any point an individual could pull themselves back a bit and not over-exert or exceed their comfort level. Had rave reviews from the employees that it was so cool and so much fun.”

It was a great event and everyone had an awesome time and enjoyed themselves thoroughly! They loved the boat challenge and each aspect of it was very carefully thought out. You guys were fantastic with energy and made the learning experience different and fun.
Additional Program Information
During the course of the event, teams will have to deal with several curve balls that are not uncommon in the real world including, new standards, staff changes, limited resources, budgets, etc. This program is a business simulation, so real elements of actual business will be built in.
At the end of the building process, teams will put together a group presentation that will highlight their accomplishments and ‘sell’ their boat to the client.
Each team will then put at least one member of their team into the boat to compete on the water in a navigational challenge.
The FullTilt Cardboard Boat Races can be done in even smaller hotel pools. The most important thing is testing their ability to float, count on getting some classic pictures of your people testing the waters!
Additional team building programs
When presented with the task of building a full sized, animated train complete with locomotive, caboose and cars that is capable of transporting every person on your team, groups rise to the occasion.
Teams are tasked with assembling a functional dog sled and a set of harnesses that will be able to carry several team members along a designated race course. This challenge promotes effective teamwork and marketing.
Each person will have a chance to shine while they complete an ongoing selection of challenges as their team’s glider is built. Groups need not be industrial design engineers or rocket scientists to do well with this challenge.
